The part that i like most in this story, is the part where Anita brought the Americano to her grandfathers house.  Anita brought food for her grandfather several days a week. Her grandfather is alone in his house because her grandmother is already dead. Anita tel the story to the Americano about Lieutenant Anderson an American Soldier. Anderson is one of the prisoners of the Japanese Soldiers, some of the prisoners are weakened from wounds in the battle on Bataan and could not keep up. One of them is Lieutenant Anderson, they were kicked and beaten by the Japanese and they were shot, their bodies were collected on a wagon pulled by carabao,  including Anderson. The grandparents of Anita saw what happened. The Japanese though that Anderson is dead, but Anita's grandparents saw Anderson moving. They helped Anderson and nursed his wounds more than a month. The Japanese Soldiers found out that Anderson hiding in the barrio,so Anita's grandparents moved Anderson to Reverend Mr. Corum’s house in Lubao. But  the Japanese search for the Americano, and they went to the house of Anita's grandparents. They asked the grandfather of Anita to give them Lieutenant Anderson, but her grandfather deny anything. The soldiers broke his limbs and he passed out from the pain. They took the grandparents of Anita to the barrio where all the people were gathered and they threatened to kill them one by one until they surrender Lieutenant Anderson. Anitas father and Reverend Mr. Corum replied to the Japanese commander that killing them would be useless,so the Japanese commander ordered a soldier to shot Anita's Nanay. "It was so injustice" . Lieutenant Anderson came out after the soldier killed her Nanay. He had witnessed the commander’s cruelty and understood that others would also die unless he was found. The soldiers took him and flung him to the ground and beat him with their rifles. Then, the commander ordered  a soldier to shot Lieutenant Anderson. After killing Anita's Nanay and Lieutenant Anderson the Japanese soldiers left them. People in the barrio buried Anita's Nanay and Lieutenant Anderson side by side under the mango tree near the house of her grandfather as he wish.
It shows that we Filipino are in open-arms in helping other people not only our "kababayan" but also other countrymen.
